Requirements/Duties
- Uphold the mission statement of Mt. Bethel Methodist Church (MC):
“Our Mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly for and to the Glory of God. Our beliefs are there is only one God, that through Him, our Salvation is made possible by the pouring out of the blood on the Cross of His Son Jesus Christ.” - Oversee and monitor the day-to-day operations of the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
- Oversee and maintain in the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher duties including but not limited to:
Classroom arrangement, materials, and curriculum
Class routine
Daily Attendance with time in/time out recorded
Sleep Chart (Infants only)
Feeding Schedule (6 weeks to 15 months only)
Daily note/parent communication (may use Brightwheel)
Permission to Administer medication records
Child specific action plans (food allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures) -
Oversee daily cleaning of classroom and shared restroom.
- Performs other duties consistent with the Lead Teacher position, in their absence, as may be requested by the Director.
- Always maintain the highest standard of professional behavior in the program.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Create a safe and Christ-centered age-appropriate classroom
* Attend all childcare staff orientation training and staff meetings unless otherwise informed by the Director.
* Maintain all training and educational requirements as set forth by the state of North Carolina
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum – Must meet one of the following:
One year of experience in a center or 2 years of experience in a family childcare home.
Completed a 2-year high school program of Early Childhood Education in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
Must obtain at least a North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC) or its equivalent as determined by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Child Development and Early Education. Must be enrolled in the credential coursework or its equivalent within 6 months after employment and must complete within 18 months after enrollment. - Preferred –
Hold a NCECC or equivalent.
Have 2 or more years of full-time verifiable early childhood experience.
Have 6 or more semester hours in Early Child Education/Child Development (ECE/CD)
Hold an associate’s degree or higher in ECE/CD or any other major with at least 12 semester hours in ECE/CD.
NC Child Care Requirements:
* Criminal Record Check qualifying letter – Day 1and every 5 years.
* Negative TB Test – Prior to the first day of work.
* Staff Medical Report – Day 1 and shall not be older than 12 months.
A statement signed by a health care professional that indicates that the person is emotionally and physically fit to care for children.
* Emergency Contact Information – Day 1, as changes occur, and annually.
* Health Questionnaire – Annually following the initial medical statement.
A statement signed by the staff member that indicates that the person is emotionally and physically fit to care for children.
* Documentation of being informed of the Emergency Preparedness & Response plan and its location – Day 1and annually.

Additional Notes: Mt Bethel MC CDC is a 3 Star Rated center looking to add passionate lead teachers to their staff who love the Lord and children alike. Our program for 2025-2026 school year will be robust to include typical child care routines as well as weekly chapel time, Bible Stories in the classroom, educational lesson plans and crafts each week, tactile and manipulative play, music and movement among other children approved ways to move and learn about Jesus and the world around us while having fun.
If you don’t have the minimum requirements for the Lead Teacher position, however, you have a passion for Christ and Children then please reach out. Hourly wages are determined by the individuals years of experience, level of education/credentials and/or certifications. Rates increase based upon increased credentials and/or certifications.
